Introduction on characters/story
1. Li Zhi Xian ? Lee Yeon Ae
She is the root of all the troubles. She is a scriptwriter with a television station. She is asked to interview Zhong He but he is late for their meeting. She reprimands him for being late. Surprisingly, he doesn?t get angry and becomes interested in her! They even get engaged. But Zhi Xian isn?t happy and goes on a Thailand holiday without his knowledge. She falls for Kang Xu at first sight and both spend the night together. However, Zhong He searches for her and brings her back. She finds out that Kang Xu is also engaged to Ming Jing. Zhi Xian decides to forget Kang Xu, but fails. She confides inh her friend, Xian Jing, who advises her to postpone her marriage to try to forget him. Zhong He believes her excuse of wanting to concentrate on her scriptwriting career. Even though he's a male chauvinist, he actually agrees to let her continue working after their marriage. But he finds out about Zhi Xian's affair, so the wedding is brought forward instead to dispel the rumours. She gets married but at her in-laws' insistence, she is not allowed to work after marriage. Life becomes hard for her. She has to wake up at 5 am daily to prepare breakfast with the maids for the men. She has to wake up at 3 am at times to open the door for Zhong He when he returns home late. She is annoyed with him for not bringing his own keys, but he says that it is the family rule! She gets tired of facing so many of his relatives and feels lonely for not being able to go out often. She often hides in the toilet so that she can use the mobile phone to chat with Xian Jing. She has a miscarriage because of the stress of reporters questioning her about her adultery. Zhong He blames his mother and asks her to treat his wife better. While pregnant with her second child, Zhi Xian tells Xian Jing that her mother-in-law is fierce. Zhi Xian suffers another shock and loses the baby. This time round, Zhi Xian asks for a divorce. Zhong He wants her to give him time to break the news to his family. He actually wants more time to salvage the marriage. Zhi Xian is impulsive and lies about returning home. In fact, she moves out to stay on her own. Zhong He finally finds her and gives in to her request. A few years later, Zhi Xian is disturbed that Zhong He still goes on proposal dates just to please his mother even though he can never forget Zhi Xian. She learns that Kang Xu is divorced and returns to him. I hate this character because she is so wilful and selfish. She shouldn?t have married Zhong He and caused him so much misery. After marriage, she should have stayed faithful to him and not send emails to Kang Xu. She doesn?t deserve the 2 men who love her so deeply. 2. Shen Min Jing ? Zhao Min Xiu
She is Kang Xu?s fianc?e and partner at work. Both are cosmetic surgeons and have opened a clinic together. Her aunt and mother are divorcees and hope that her marriage will not be a failure like them. Her mother dislikes Kang Xu because he is poor. Min Jing fights hard for her own happiness. She nearly kills herself upon knowing Kang Xu?s affair. She is so angry that after marriage, she has no mood to go on honeymoon. She is also suspecting that Kang Xu is seeing Zhi Xian behind her back, so she becomes very unreasonable. She isn?t close to her in-laws and objects to Kang Xu?s twin nephews staing at their home. She also dismisses a few maids because she says that their standards of hygiene are poor. Kang Xu finds her picky but still bears with it. They have a daughter but they quarrel over how to take care of her. Kang Xu keeps contact with Zhi Xian through emails to find out about her present life. At this time, Min Jing has an abortion without consulting him because she finds it tiring to care for just one child and she does not want to have another to add to the burden. He gets angry and ignores her. She then organizes an outing, hoping to save their marriage. But she discovers his emails to Zhi Xian. Kang Xu and Min Jing divorce, and she gives him custody of their daughter because he loves her more. I pity this woman for trying so hard to retain Kang Xu's love. She just can?t believe that a man she has loved for years can have a change of heart in just a few months. She deserves pity but I don?t think she should have had the abortion. Doesn?t she love the child? She is right to ask for a divorce, though ? there is no point being with Kang Xu if he doesn?t love her anymore. 3. Cui Zhong He ? Cha In Pyo
He wins the hearts of many women. He is a successful businessman and no one ever dares to talk back at him. But when Zhi Xian reprimands him for being late, he becomes interested in her because she dared to stand up to him. Despite his tight schedule, he even flies to Thailand to bring Zhi Xian back although half the time, his mind is on the business contracts he has to deal with. He is disturbed that she has not told him about the trip, but he shows concern for her. He dines with her and orders dishes for her without her consent. Upon seeing how wan she is (she is disturbed by the affair then), he is concerned and even wishes to buy medicine for her personally. To cheer her up, he writes cards for her throughout the night and gives to her personally. However, she isn't appreciative of his gestures. He is badly affected by Zhi Xian?s affair. Even after knowing the truth, he manages to settle the issue of her infidelity and forwards the wedding because he simply loves her too much. If you thought that their honeymoon would be romantic, you will be disappointed. Zhong He is so tired with work that he sleeps most of the time at Jiju Island! You will pity Zhi Xian feeling so neglected when she strolls on beaches alone. He may come across as a traditional man (for example, he demands that Zhi Xian open the door for him, and he seldom visits his in-laws). But this man still tries hard to make her happy. Initially, he is unable to forgive her for betraying him. However, upon learning that she is pregnant, he is so delighted that his cool attitude towards her changes. Although he is equally upset over the miscarriage, he hugs her to console her. Many will melt upon seeing how caring he is. Her request for a divorce really tears his heart. There is one scene that he asks her repeatedly to try to continue married life with him but she declines, saying that his family is too harsh on her. Feeling the anguish, he drinks a whole bottle of wine with an empty stomach. Later at home, he has gastric pains and still drinks cold water. This really shows that he is very upset over it. Later he nearly turns mad when Zhi Xian disappears without a trace. He finds her and later sleeps on her bed after another failed attempt to change her mind. Zhi Xian covers him with a blanket. He holds her hand. This man has truly given up lots of things for her ? he faces family pressure over the divorce and he is forced to meet women whom he isn?t interested in. How I wish the producer will let him to marry another woman in the end! 4. Li Kang Xu ? Li Jing Rong
He is an indecisive man when it comes to love matters. He loves Zhi Xian but feels responsible to Min Jing. Actually, he wants to be faithful to Min Jing after marriage but she doesn?t trust him. Although he doesn?t love her anymore, he still wishes to save the marriage because he doesn?t wish his daughter to grow up in a single-parent family. Some of my colleagues like him and not Zhong He. They find Zhong He very demanding while Kang Xu is a good listener and a caring man. I don?t really like this character because he is still unfaithful to his wife for keeping the emails he exchanges with Zhi Xian. Favourite character
Zhong He. Although he is horribly chauvinistic, we can see that he is a man who loves his family, even though his methods may not be palatable to Zhi Xian. Most hated character
Zhi Xian. I hate her for being nasty to Zhong He when he shows concern for her. She's a spoilt brat who deserves to be slapped by Min Jing?s aunt for that act of infidelity. Song
There are 2 versions of the themesong ?The Love Praise Song?. One is by a male singer, Liu Yue, while another a duet with a female singer, Xu Ying Yin. Both versions are quite pleasant to listen to. Interesting facts It was very popular in Taiwan as most stations telecast it. The Taiwanese found the cast splendid and the dialogue touching. Some supported Zhi Xian for going against the traditional rules. But many saw her as a stubborn, reckless and thoughtless woman. They felt that her in-laws actually treated her quite well, especially her husband, Zhong He. She wasn?t as pitiful as she seemed. It was her own fault that she fell for the wrong man and that she expected to get her way all the time. Actually most pitied Zhong He. Although he was chauvinistic, he really gave her all his love and attention. Maybe his way of showing love wasn?t acceptable to her and she ended up divorcing him. Many really disliked this ending, so they went on the website to request for a change and to let both reconcile. It is strange that ?Fireworks? caused more sparks in Taiwan than in Korea. For us, it is no big deal to see one-night-stand scenes in other serials. But for the Koreans, it is not the case. The ratings were lower than 20%, and only rose to more than 40% when the serial reached the last few episodes. As like most Korean dramas, the serial is shown while the other episodes are being shot. When the 6th episode was shown, the crew was still filming the 9th and 10th episode. The producer had high demands from the cast. Zhi Xian?s crying scene when calling up Kang Xu to tell him how much she missed him took 2 hours and 20 NGs. Lee Yeon Ae didn?t complain about it and followed the instructions. Many wondered how Zhi Xian could fall in love with such a plain-looking and wrinkled Kang Xu but detest the handsome-looking and cool Zhong He. Maybe it is the personality that attracted her. This is the second time that Lee Yeon Ae and Lee Jing Rong have worked together, so they created more sparks. The producer wanted to create a tragic ending of Zhi Xian and Kang Xu committing suicide. But due to popular demand, both have a happy ending. Cha In Pyo is so popular for this self-sacrificing role that he has been chosen by Taiwanese fans as the most popular Korean artiste, winning over Ahn Jae Wook, Ryu Si Won and Han Jae Sek. He was initially given another task in acting a MBC serial but he was so interested in the role that he took up this SBS assignment instead. At the completion of filming, SBS had a celebration, the producer praised him for his attitude. He often helped the assistants in brewing coffee or carrying things. Many then commented that although he was still a little wooden in acting, his personality was the best. The producer gave him many comments to alter his mistakes. This is the first time that Cha has worked with the producer. Cha In Pyo found it a challenge to play a stern man, so he was very nervous and hardworking. Many were pleased with his natural performance, and found him suitable to portray a possessive but gentle Zhong He. When he was in Taiwan with Lee Yeon Ae to promote the serial, he asked for every fan?s name and thanked them personally before signing on their posters. His sincerity won the fans over ? so much that they even followed him to the hotel and asked for more autographs. It became a marathon autograph session. He was obliging and despite of his tight schedule, he took pictures with all of them. After returning to Korea for a few hours, he put up a thank-you note on his website. Conclusion
Most viewers will pity Kang Xu and Zhi Xian as they do not marry the people they love. I personally sympathize with Zhong He and Min Jing. The producer?s motive is to let others realize that they shouldn?t look for ?fireworks? and be more aware of those who love them quietly. I think the producer has succeeded in putting across that message. I don?t approve of Kang Xu and Zhi Xian?s actions. They really sicken me. Zhi Xian?s attitude irks me as she always thinks that she is right. If they had known what they want from the start, they should have not gone ahead with the marriages. They are just lucky that their spouses decided to give them up. I do wonder why these two have such good luck to be together in the end. I don?t really like the storyline as it depicts them in a good light. The acting from the supporting cast is flawless. I really admire the actress who played Zhong He?s mother. Although she is short and plump, she is very stern-looking. No wonder Zhi Xian is so frightened of her. The pace is quite slow, though. You have to have a lot of patience when watching it.

Pure beauty Lee Young-Ae was voted the actress whose charm is least likely to change over time.
In a poll for domestic actresses who can rival Demi Moore, whose new thriller 'Half Light' is awaiting its release on June 29, Lee took the first spot.
The poll asked participants to vote for the Korean actress that they believe will still boast her charm on screen 10 years from now. A total of 29,017 netizens participated in the poll which was conducted on various film-related websites and news portals from May 22 to 28.
Lee received 9,594 votes, followed by Jeon Do-Yeon and Kim Hye-Soo, who were supported by 6,783 and 5,344 participants respectively. Ko Hyeon-Jeong and Yeom Jeong-Ah took the 4th and 5th spots.
Since her debut through her cosmetics TV commercial under the well-known nickname 'oxygen woman', Lee has performed in many TV dramas and movies. Recently she has enjoyed popularity thorugh the historical epic 'Daejanggeum' and Park Chan-Wook's 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance'.

Rational Insanity

With thirteen more episodes to go as of writing time, "Jewel in the Palace" is indeed taking the country by storm. I am no television soap opera addict, much more the kinds where the lips of the actors and actresses don't quite follow the proper movement of the dialogue you hear. I never expected I would be hooked by this jewel from Korea.
About three or four months ago, my friend Marcel insisted that I watch this Korean telenovela. I refused, but one evening while I was moping around the house looking for something better to do, I flicked on the television and was hooked since then. I even gave up my gimmick nights for the show because it started at ten in the evening and after it aired there was nothing else to do but to hit the sacks. Anyway, what is it with this TV hit that stole the nation's heart away? Hmmmm esep-esep.
Well, for one, the heroine, Jang Geum is played by a very pretty Korean actress who happens to be thirty-five years old already. She has managed to maintain her youthful and supple appearance that looking at her, one would definitely say that she could have discovered the fountain of youth or the philosopher's stone or whatever else we might call it. Aside from Jang Geum other characters also played it well. Lady Hann who is the mentor of Jang Geum in Korean cuisine (because they were cooks in the palace of the king) had the sympathy of the audience especially when the villainess, Lady Choi, subjected her to one of her vengeful and very schemy tricks. The actress who played Lady Choi also did a sterling performance although we all know that playing the "kontrabida" is leaps and bounds much easier than playing a "sympatico" down to earth character like Jang Geum or Lady Hann. The actors and actresses all played their parts well giving the show its inherent charm.
Aside from just the actors and actresses, what got me into this Korean telenovela was the fact that it had a very cultural theme. I am very curious about the culture of our Asian neighbors and "Jewel in the Palace" offered me an authentic glimpse of this culture. The costuming was superb. I loved how they recreated the native costumes of the period. Knowing that the story of Jang Geum is based on an actual historical person also added to my interest in the show. Here is a chance for me to see how ancient Korean women were treated during their time and how one rose to the opportunity of changing all that. I am reminded of our very own historical heroines namely Gabriella Silang, Melchora Aquino, and many others who have changed the course of Philippine History by utilizing girl power. "Jewel in the Palace" is in itself a work of art. The culinary theme of the show is also a come on for me because aside from my love and passion for food and cooking, I find the cuisine in the show very authentic to the last and final detail; this is despite their not really showing how the food is cooked to the minutest detail. One very interesting feature of the culinary theme of the show is the philosophical significance of food. I noticed that every time something is cooked for the monarch in the show, the chefs/cooks explain to the monarch the reasons why such an item is cooked and the effects of the various ingredients put into the recipe. All throughout the show, the culinary philosophy being repeated again and again is the belief that when one cooks he/she should cook with the welfare and benefit of the recipient of the food in mind. If this philosophy is not exercised then there is no use in cooking any kind of food in the first place.
Now, aside from the food-chat, there is also one very striking feature that I noticed about the show, the beautiful cinematography. Every scene in the show is a picture-perfect post card in itself. Actors and actresses are seamlessly united with the scenery that the entire show becomes a feast for the eyes. The colors are not too harsh in that one does not tire when watching how the actors and actresses interact with themselves and with the setting. In its entirety, the show is a beautiful cultural masterpiece. Although it has not ended yet, I am looking forward to how the screenplay writer would wrap together wonderful ribbons around the wonderful cultural material of Jewel in the Palace and in its final episode, present the show as a worthwhile gift not only to the Filipino audience but to the Filipino television and movie industry as well.

Some 3,000 Japanese fans came out to see one of the Korean Wave's top stars, Lee Young-ae, on Tuesday. “Korea's Sayuri Yoshinaga, the beautiful Lee Young-ae, held her first fan meeting in Japan at Tokyo's Shibuya NHK Hall,” the Sankei Sports newspaper reported.
In part to promote the drama that she appeared in "Daejanggeum (A Jewel in the Palace)", which is now showing on Japan's NHK television, the actress traveled to Japan where she wooed fans over once again with her great looks and fine grace, that led to her being praised as the "Korean Sayuri Yoshinaga." Sayuri Yoshinaga is a popular actress who despite turning 61 this year has managed to maintain her uniquely graceful appearance.
Lee said in an interview with a reporter on the scene that she admired the animated films of Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki. When asked about her ideal type, the actress added, "I'd like to choose someone who never stops thinking about me."

Actress Lee Young-Ae and actor Song Seung-Heon were voted the most favorite Korean stars in Thailand.
In a telephone survey about Korean Wave with 180 Thai participants, conducted by KTCC, a Thailand-based Korean company, 28.9% (52) and 11.1% (20) of the participants picked Lee and Song as their most favorite Korean star.
Lee took the first spot thanks to the popularity of her drama 'Daejanggeum' which recently finished broadcasting in Thailand, and Song got the most votes among male actors for his dramas 'Autumn Tales' and 'Summer Scent', as well as his movies 'Make It Big' and 'He Was Cool'.Rain of 'Full House' followed Lee and Song, and Won Bin, Soh Ji-Seop, Shinhwa, Dong Bang Shin Gi, Shim Eun Jin and Ji Jin Hee were also among the list. In particular, in case of Rain, 78% (140) of the participants answered they know him.As to whether the image of Korea has improved compared to 5 years ago, 97% of the participants answered 'yes', and the reasons they picked were Korean TV dramas and movies (62%), and Korean products (20%).

Top star Lee Young-Ae was picked as the new model for 'The History of Whoo', the Korean medicinal cosmetics brand of LG Household and Healthcare.
"We plan to take a more aggressive approach toward the domestic and Asian market for expensive cosmetics by hiring the Korean Wave star Lee Young-Ae," said LG Household and Healthcare on May 16. "We have signed a 2-year contract with her for 'The History of Whoo', for the highest salary in the industry."
Those in the industry estimate her annual salary to be at least 1 billion won (~USD 1,000,000). Since the former model Ko Hyun-Jung received 1 billion won for a 1-year contract, Lee's salary, known to be the highest so far, is likely to surpass that.
The company will showcase 'The History of Whoo' in China, Vietnam and other Asian markets from August. Lee is contracted to represent the brand as its Asian model as well."We hired Lee because we thought her elegant and noble image, as well as her popularity as a Korean Wave star, matches that of our Korean medicinal cosmetics brand 'The History of Whoo'," LG explained.
"We also believe that she will be an effective model for tackling foreign markets."Lee will begin her promotion from early July, starting with 'Whoo Hwanyoogo', a facial cream priced at around 680,000 won (~USD 720).

Asiana Airlines Featuring Dae Jang Geum / Jewel in the Palace
May 10, INCHEON, South Korea -- Asiana Airlines, one of South Korea's two flag carriers, opens to media a Boeing-767 flight named after Daejanggeum, the main protagonist of the popular local TV drama by the same name, at Incheon International Airport outside Seoul on May 10. The plane with several printed images of the character on its body will fly on routes linking South Korea with Japan, China, Taiwan and Southeast Asia for one year. YA: I sincerely hope that Daejanggeum will be a TV drama that can give you strength in your lives.

As you can see from the continuous camera flashes, she attracted a lot of attention from the local press, as an Asia-wide star.
Another proof of her popularity could be seen from the huge crowd who came to see the live TV show where she appeared as a guest. Inside NHK Hall where the show was to take place, many Daejanggeum related products were also hot on sale.

They're very good. As you can see, the hall was filled with audiences. Lee Young-Ae showed up in beautiful hanbok to the enthusiastic applause of a few thousand audiences. This program had always been filmed in its own studio. However, when more than 16,000 applications poured in to see Lee Young-Ae, they had to move to NHK Hall for the first time in 12 years which can accomodate a larger crowd.
Following the live TV show, a fan meeting was held for a closer communication with fans. An applause of admiration continued as she appeared in a graceful red dress.

Now that's something one can't overlook as a Korean. She stood up and corrected the assistant's gorum herself. It seems even the gorum is happy to be corrected by her kind hands.
Next is a review of Daejanggeum's crucial scenes.

Lee Young-Ae again cleverly points out a mistake.
YA: It says, 'one word to Geum-Young who has become the head of royal kitchen'. It should be Hanmadi (one word), not Anmadi, which really isn't a Korean word at all. (laughs)

The emcee looks startled. The Japanese audience seemed to enjoy Lee Young-Ae's correction given in a cheerful manner.

Lastly, she gave a special gift to a fan on stage with a warm hug. And thus her visit to Japan successfully came to an end.
Q: When will you show yourself to the fans in Korea?
YA: I guess a chance will come sometime in the future. I'd like to do so as soon as I can. Let me say thanks to these people for a moment. (bows to TV staffs)

Actress Lee Young-ae Captivates Japanese Fans' Hearts
Hallyu star Lee Young-ae has captivated the hearts of about 3,000 Japanese fans.
The Internet edition of the Japanese newspaper Sankei Sports reported on May 9, "Beautiful film actress Lee Young-ae, South Korea's 'Sayuri Yoshinaga' (a Japanese film actress), had her first fan meeting at the Shibuya NHK Hall in Tokyo, Japan on May 8."
Lee is visiting Japan to promote the MBC TV drama "A Jewel in the Palace," in which she acted. The drama is currently being aired on NHK. At the fan meeting, Lee received much acclaim from her fans, who called her "Sayuri Yoshinaga" for her beautiful features and dignified attitude.
Yoshinaga is a 61-year-old Japanese actress who is loved by many Japanese people for her beauty despite her advanced age.
In an interview with local journalists, Lee said, "The film 'Modern Times,' which I saw when I was 18, is full of humanity. I like animated films directed by Hayao Miyazaki very much because they have a charm similar to that in 'Modern Times.'"
Lee also said, "I would like to marry a man who will invariably love me."

LYA posters & banners of LG at the Malls
Young Ae's posters n banners for LG appliances are all out at Abenson stores and SM appliance store. Full size stand posters is located in front of the store of Abenson in Town Center Alabang and Festival Mall as well as in SM southmall. I noticed people crowding the entrance but im not sure if they are at all interested with the LG TV display or the poster with caption - Young Ae Lee - Jewel in the Palace star. When I got inside the store, everywhere from the washing machine area to the Ref area, the banners and posters are all shown. ~~~ -as reported by tina of lya forums.

 Bae Yong-Joon and Lee Young-Ae, each the forerunner of Korean Wave in Japan and Sinophone regions, will be the face of a large scale Korean pop culture event. On May 3, according to BOF, Bae's management company, Bae and Lee were jointly appointed the promotion ambassadors for the Korean Wave Expo 2006, which begins in Cheju island from July. The expo is organized together by Cheju city government and Korean Wave Expo, Ltd., and sponsored by the ministry of culture and tourism, Korea Tourism Organization, and Cheju tourism association. To be held under the theme of 'the beginning of Korean Wave culture', the expo is expected to draw participation of numerous Asian countries. The combination of Bae Yong-Joon, who brought about Korean Wave in Japan with his KBS drama 'Winter Sonata', and Lee Young-Ae, the creator of Korean culture fever in China, Japan and other Asian countries with her MBC drama 'Daejanggeum', has an implication beyond itself. In particular, at a time when several Asian presses are expressing concern about the future of Korean Wave, their collaboration in an official Korean Wave event is bringing hope to those in the pop culture industry. The two will appear in a promotion video to be produced in 4 languages and participate in various promotion activities targetted at many Asian countries. "We are delighted to take part in an event for Asian cultural exchange with Ms. Lee Young-Ae," said BOF. "Bae Yong-Joon will be shooting his new drama 'The King's Four Gods' in Cheju island, so it's an even more special place for him." BOF signed a memorandum of understanding with Cheju province on April 26 to be a sponsor of the event, and is planning to continue to collaborate with Cheju province and provide cultural contents. Sympathy for Lady Vengeance' off to a good start in the US
Park Chan-Wook's 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance' began its first week of US theater release smoothly.Opened on April 28 in two screens in New York, 'Sympathy for Lady Vegneace' earned US$9,850 over the last weekend, and was ranked 75th in the box office, according to Box Office Mojo.With US$4,925 average gross per screen, 'Sympathy' was ranked 10th among 137 movies currently being shown.Tartan Films, the distributor of the film, plans to adjust the number of screens based on the film's performance in the first week, so the number of screens is expected to increase in the future.'Sympathy' will open in Detroit on May 5, LA on May 12, Boston and Washington DC on May 19, and Huntington and Chicago on May 26.

Riding on the popularity of 'Daejanggeum', 'Daejanggeum' stamps will begin sales in Japan on April 28, prior to the lead actress Lee Young-Ae's visit to the country.
A single set of 'Daejanggeum' stamps consists of ten 80-yen stamps. Two kinds are released, one with pictures of Lee Young-Ae and the other with pictures of other actors.
Lee is scheduled to appear in NHK's livecast program 'Hello From the Studio Park' on May 8, to talk about 'Daejanggeum'. The show will be followed by an hour and half long fan meeting from 2 PM at the NHK Hall which can hold about 3,000 people.
The 26-episode long TV animation 'Jang-Geum's Dream' is also being aired on NHK at the prime time, 7:30 PM every Saturday. Other 'Daejanggeum'-related events and exhibitions are also being held one after another. In the midst of all this, Lee Young-Ae's visit to Japan, who has shown impressive performances in 'JSA' and 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance', is likely to be one of the hottest issues in entertainment in the first half of the year.

The most beautiful that I���ve seen here in Singapore is no other than the Jewel of Asia, Ms. Lee Young Ae or Jang Geum of Jewel in the Palace. I did not miss the opportunity to talk to her.
Lyn: Mam, you���re so beautiful, you look like a doll. So, can you share to us your secret how to be beautiful outside and inside
LYA: Hey you���re so beautiful than me (giggles) you���re suppose to share with me your beauty secrets (laugh n giggles).
Ok, (thinks���), you know what, Thank you. As an actress I need to maintain beautiful in the eyes of the viewing public especially in my role in the Jewel in the Palace as Jang Geum. But as myself, Lee Young Ae, I am not perfect and has flaws and different sort of weaknesses
Lyn: Can you compare yourself with Jang Geum. Your differences, your similarities and finally, do you have message to share with our viewers, million and millions of people love you in our country
LYA: I am not as hard working as Jang Geum. There are also times that I wanted to give up in the middle of doing something. If I think that if what I���m doing is not going to work out, I also give up. I am really just a typical person, just like the majority because if you will ask me how I differ with Jang Geum, well I���m more humorous, comical and dynamic (on the go) compared to the role I played, that���s the real me.
As for my message for the viewers, I am so grateful to them. And you know what, in my stay here in Singapore, I���ve realize how much the Filipinos love me and I am really thankful to them.
